French Open: Alcaraz won the French Open, earned more prize money than the winner of the T20 World Cup

This is Carlos Alcaraz’s third Grand Slam title. Earlier, Alcaraz has won the US Open in 2022 and the Wimbledon title in 2023. With the victory in the French Open, Carlos got a prize money of $ 26,08,465 (about Rs 21.78 crore). This is more than the prize money received by the champion of the T20 World Cup being played in the West Indies and America. The T20 World Champion will get a prize money of about Rs 20.36 crore.

Third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in a five-set match. Fourth seeded German player Zverev fought hard for four hours and 19 minutes, but could not win the title. This is Alcaraz’s fifth win in 10 matches against Zverev.

Rafael Nadal’s record broken
21-year-old Alcaraz grew up watching his/her countryman Rafael Nadal win 14 trophies at Roland Garros. Now he/she has surpassed Nadal to become the youngest player to win major championships on three surfaces. When Nadal achieved this feat, he/she was about one and a half years older than Alcaraz.

No Nadal-Djokovic-Federer for the first time in 20 years

Alcaraz has won all three of his/her Grand Slam finals so far. However, he/she and Zverev were playing in the French Open final for the first time. This is Zverev’s second defeat in two Grand Slam title matches. 27-year-old Zverev lost the US Open final in 2020 after losing a two-set lead against Dominic Thiem.
