Former Chairman of ISRO, former Director of AIIMS… Centre formed a high level committee amid NEET controversy

Bhupendra Sharma, New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has taken a big step amid the uproar over the NEET paper leak. The Ministry of Education has constituted a high-level committee of experts to ensure transparent, smooth and fair conduct of the examinations. The committee will make recommendations on improving the mechanism of the examination process, improving data security protocols and the structure and functioning of the NTA. The committee will submit its report to the ministry within 2 months. The high-level committee will be headed by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former chairman of ISRO.

Education Ministry formed a committee

The high level committee formed by the Ministry of Education also includes six members. Among them, the name of former director of AIIMS Delhi, Dr. Randeep Guleria is also included. Hyderabad Central University Vice Chancellor Professor B.J. Rao has also got a place in the committee. Professor Emeritus of IIT Madras Civil Engineering Department, Prof. Ramamurthy is also a member of the committee. Pankaj Bansal, Co-founder, People Strong and Board Member- Karmayogi Bharat is also included in this committee. Prof. Aditya Mittal, Dean Student Affairs, IIT Delhi is also present in this committee. Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Education has been included as Member Secretary.

The committee will give recommendations on these issues

(I) Improvement in the system of examination process

(A) Analyzing the entire examination process and suggesting measures to improve the efficiency of the system and prevent any possible violations.

To thoroughly review the NTA protocols, and suggest measures to strengthen these processes/protocols along with monitoring mechanisms to ensure compliance at every level.

(II) Improvement in data security protocols

To evaluate NTA’s existing data security processes and protocols and suggest measures for its improvement.

To examine the existing security protocols relating to paper-setting and other processes for various examinations and make recommendations to enhance the robustness of the system.

(III) Structure and functioning of NTA

To assess the existing grievance redressal mechanism of NTA, identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for enhancing its efficiency.

This committee of the Ministry of Education will submit its report to the Ministry within two months.
