New Delhi. Some unexpected results have been seen so far in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan’s defeat to America and New Zealand’s defeat to Afghanistan are prominent among them. In the matches so far, the bowlers have dominated the batsmen. For the first time 20 teams are participating in the T20 World Cup. In such a situation, it seemed that the veteran teams would pile up runs against the new teams and many big scores would be seen in the tournament. However, this has not happened so far. So far, a score of more than 200 has been made only once on the slow pitches of West Indies and America.
Apart from the results, there have been some moments in this World Cup that have attracted the attention of the fans. The incident of Rohit Sharma forgetting the coin while coming for the toss before the match against Pakistan has brought smiles on the faces of the fans. The pain of not getting a four as a legboy in the match against South Africa was also in the hearts of Bangladeshi supporters. In this match, the Bangladesh team had to lose by just 4 runs.
Let’s take a look at the special moments of T20 World Cup 2024 so far..
Bangladesh did not get 4 runs for leg boy due to this reason
Bangladesh had to face defeat at the hands of South Africa (South Africa Vs Bangladesh) in the Group ‘D’ match in New York. Bangladeshi bowlers performed well and allowed South Africa to score only 113 runs in 20 overs, but in response, Nazmul Hasan Shanto’s team could score only 109 runs for 7 wickets and lost the match by 4 runs. In the decisive over, Keshav Maharaj dismissed Zaker Ali and Mahmudullah and did not let Bangladesh score the required 11 runs for victory. In the last 4 overs, when 27 runs were needed to win, Bangladesh did not get 4 runs for legboy despite the ball hitting Mahmudullah’s pad and going out of the boundary in Bartman’s over. However, this happened as per the rules. Mahmudullah tried to flick the second ball of the over going towards the leg side and the ball hit the pad and went out of the boundary. On South Africa’s appeal for LBW, the umpire declared the batsman out. Unhappy with the decision, Mahmudullah took a review which showed that the ball was going outside the leg stump. The TV umpire declared Mahmudullah not out. Under the ICC Playing Conditions rule of T20 World Cup 2024, the ball was considered dead as soon as the ground umpire declared the batsman out. Even though the TV umpire overturned the decision, the ball was considered dead along with the ground umpire’s decision of out, so Bangladesh did not get 4 runs for legboy. Unfortunately, Bangladesh lost the match by 4 runs. If the umpire had not given Mahmudullah out, the team would have got these runs.
The umpire removed the “Vitality” sticker from Jos Buttler’s bat
During the tournament, the incident of the umpire removing a special sticker from the bat of England captain Jos Buttler also made headlines. The bat that Buttler came out with in the Australia-England Group ‘B’ match on June 8 had a pink sticker on which “Vitality” was written. This was considered a violation of ICC equipment regulations. The umpire took prompt action in this matter and removed this sticker from the bat. In fact, Buttler came out to bat for the first time against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024. Earlier, England’s match against Scotland on June 4 was washed out due to rain. According to ICC Equipment Regulations, any player is allowed to put several sponsored logos on the front and back of the bat. This includes three on the back of the bat, which includes the logo of the manufacturer company, a set of player’s initials in the middle and the logo of the player’s bat at the bottom. It is important that every sponsor logo is in accordance with ICC guidelines. Vitality Group is the sponsor of T20 Blast in England and provides health-life insurance in the UK market. This was considered against the interests of many ICC sponsors. Due to this, this sticker was removed from Butler’s bat.

Rohit Sharma became a laughing stock due to his/her habit of forgetting
During the ‘great match’ between India and Pakistan in New York during the T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma became a laughing stock due to his/her forgetful nature. Rohit Sharma arrived for the toss with Pakistan team captain Babar Azam, commentator Ravi Shastri and match referee David Boon. Rohit had to toss the coin but when he/she reached the field, he/she forgot where the coin was. he/she asked Babar for the coin. Fortunately, the captain of Team India realized in time that the coin was in his/her pocket. Later he/she tossed the coin. Babar was also seen smiling at Rohit’s forgetfulness. Virat Kohli has also told in an interview that Rohit often forgets something or the other while checking out from the hotel room. he/she has also forgotten his/her passport and wedding ring in the hotel room. After winning the toss in a match against New Zealand, he/she forgot whether to bat or bowl first as discussed in the team meeting.
#BabarAzam We’ve won the toss and bowling first isn’t a difficult decision!
It will be good to win the toss on this pitch as both the teams would want to go on the path of victory. #biggestrivalry,
Match will start at 8:50 PM IST due to slight delay due to rain! (No overs lost)#INDvPAK | LIVE NOW |… pic.twitter.com/LzC0faqwkh
