New Delhi: Army Day Parade will be organized on Indian Army Day. For the first time, Nepal Army band will also be included in it. Till now no band or contingent from any other country had ever participated in the Army Day Parade. According to sources, this team of Nepal Army Band will have 33 members. This team of Nepal Army will reach Pune tomorrow i.e. on Friday. This time the Army Day Parade is being held in Pune. Army Day is on 15th January.

Nepal Army Band will participate

About two and a half years ago, when the method of recruitment in the Indian Army changed and the recruitment of Agniveers started through the Agneepath Scheme, Gorkhas of Nepalese origin have not been able to be recruited in the Indian Army. Nepal does not want to send its youth under the Agneepath scheme. Nepal wants that Nepali Gorkhas should be taken into the army permanently as before and not as Agniveer.

This time’s Republic Day parade will be completed in 90 minutes, 14 marching squads and 25 tableaux will be included.

Nepal Army team will reach Pune

However, there has been no progress from the governments of both the countries regarding this. But relations between Nepal Army and Indian Army continue as before. Only a few months ago, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had gone to Nepal and after that Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel came to India. The armies of both the countries give the title of Honorary General to each other’s Army Chief.

Both countries provide courses to each other’s soldiers.

Both the countries also provide courses to each other’s soldiers in their prestigious military institutions. Last year alone, more than 300 soldiers of Nepal Army were trained in India. In this the focus was on counter insurgency, leadership development and peacekeeping. Both countries are important partners in enhancing their military capabilities.

Joint military exercise every year

India-Nepal conduct joint military exercises every year. Its name is Exercise Surya Kiran. This promotes better coordination and cooperation between the two armies. The exercise focuses on counter-terrorism operations, disaster relief and humanitarian assistance.
