New Delhi: The effects of flood have started appearing in the national capital Delhi. Meanwhile, the statement of the Aam Aadmi Party has created an uproar in the political circles. Delhi cabinet minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on Saturday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led governments at the Center and in Haryana deliberately released water towards the national capital, which led to floods in the city. Addressing a press conference, Bhardwaj said that there was no heavy rain in Delhi in the last 3-4 days, yet the water level in Yamuna reached 208.66 metres.

he/she said, ‘Water is released from Hathinikund Barrage into three canals, Western Canal, Eastern Canal and Yamuna. Between July 9 and 13, as part of a conspiracy, water was released from the Yamuna canal only towards Delhi. No water was released in the western and eastern canals.

Similar allegations were made by him/her and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday. The Delhi government was at loggerheads with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over the ‘regulator’ breaking down, which allegedly led to water-logging on Vikas Marg. There was no immediate reaction from the BJP on the latest allegation made by the Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday.

In view of the threat of flood, the Chief Secretary gave instructions

In view of the current flood situation in Delhi, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar has issued orders to LAS and DANICS officers for rescue, relief and rehabilitation works. The order is for all 11 districts and 33 subdivisions.

According to the information received, the water level of Yamuna in Delhi is gradually decreasing. But still Delhi is flooded in many parts. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena himself had taken to the streets to take stock of the situation. (input: also from language)
