Flood of passengers in trains on Diwali-Chhath, Railways in action after Mumbai accident, these instructions given to officials

New Delhi : An accident took place in a hurry to board the Gorakhpur Antyodaya Express train arriving on the platform at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus late night on Saturday-Sunday. Alerted by this accident, Railways reviewed all the railway stations of the country from where a large number of people are going to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh for Diwali and Chhath Puja. All concerned GMs, DRMs and ADRMs have been asked to remain on 24-hour alert to take care of the resources required for all these stations. So that no other accident happens again.

Review of all the railway stations of the country

During the review, officials have observed deficiencies in holding areas, lounges, extra ticket counters, food and drink facilities and other deficiencies on the platform. Orders have been given to repair them in time. Recently, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said that in view of the festive season, this time Railways has run seven thousand special trains for more than one crore passengers. But the ground reality is that considering the influx of passengers, even this train seems to be proving inadequate.

Action after Bandra station accident

Here, regarding the Mumbai accident, Railways says that neither was there a stampede, nor was the force less, it was the fault of some passengers themselves. Who as soon as they saw the train started trying to board it. Due to this some passengers fell. But people say that there was a huge crowd of passengers at the spot. According to him/her, there were not sufficient number of RPF and GRP personnel. If RPF had been deployed according to the passengers then why would the accident have happened?

Extra arrangements at more crowded stations

However, the running time of Antyodaya Express was 5:15 am on Sunday morning. Whereas the train was being put on the platform about two and a half hours earlier at 2:44 pm on Saturday-Sunday night. This accident happened due to haste of some passengers. In which 9 people were injured. Two of these are serious. In this matter, Railways says that during the festival time, apart from Delhi and Mumbai railway stations, people go to their homes from Udhna Railway Station, Vijayawada near Surat.

Apart from this, a large number of laborers and other people from the railway stations of South India and other cities including Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Chennai, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Ambala go to their homes in Bihar and UP to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja. This is an annual task. In view of this, Railways had earlier also decided that the platform of any train will not be changed. Accidents have happened earlier also due to this negligence.
