Film announced on the love story of Meena Kumari and Kamal Amrohi, they could not be separated even in the graveyard

The love story of popular Indian cinema couple Kamal Amrohi and Meena Kumari will now be seen on the silver screen. A film is now being made on the love story of this iconic couple, which has been announced. It will be directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. Siddharth recently directed the film ‘Maharaj’, in which Aamir Khan’s son Junaid made his/her acting debut. The name of this film will be ‘Kamal Aur Meena’.

Saregama India Limited and Lion Heart Cinema will jointly produce this film. Its music will be given by AR Rahman, while the lyrics of the songs will be written by Irshad Kamil.

Kamal Amrohi and Meena Kumari’s love story was full of ups and downs. They played an important role in each other’s personal and professional life. Kamal Amrohi is still remembered for ‘Pakeezah’, which proved to be a milestone in his/her and Meena Kumari’s career. Kamal made only 4 films in his/her 45-year career, but no one has been able to make such films till date. Along with films, his/her love and dedication towards Meena Kumari also remained in the news.

Kamal Amrohi met Meena Kumari for the first time when she was 5 years old. Then after about 14 years, Ashok Kumar arranged a meeting between Kamal Amrohi and Meena Kumari. Kamal had already married twice and was 19 years older than Meena. Still, he/she fell in love with Meena Kumari. Meena Kumari was also crazy about him/her. However, after a few years of marriage, both of them got divorced. The rift between the two increased to such an extent that they distanced themselves from each other forever. But love and care remained in the heart. Meena Kumari died on 31 March 1972 and Kamal Amrohi died in the year 199. Both remained together even after death. Kamal Amrohi was buried in the same cemetery where Meena Kumari’s grave was. Even the graves of both are together.

‘Kamal Aur Meena’ will be produced by Saregama and Rohandeep Singh along with Kamal Amrohi’s grandson Bilal Amrohi. The shooting of the film will start in the year 2025 and it will be released in 2026. Currently, the casting of the film is going on.
