Farmers will not march to Delhi today, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha raised questions on the Centre, said- Government should hold a meeting soon

New Delhi: Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) on Monday urged the Center to quickly hold the proposed meeting with protesting farmers on February 14. Also appealed to farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal to end his/her indefinite fast. Kisan Mazdoor Morcha also announced the postponement of the program of a group of 101 farmers to march to Delhi on 21 January till 26 January. This organization, along with the United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political), has been leading the ongoing farmers’ protests at Khanauri and Shambhu borders for the last 11 months.

‘Central government should hold talks with farmers soon’

A high-level central delegation led by Priya Ranjan, joint secretary in the agriculture ministry, met Dallewal and representatives of SKM (non-political), KMM at the Khanauri border point on Saturday. Invited them to resume talks in Chandigarh on 14 February. On Monday, at the Shambhu protest site, KMM leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said that there is a lot of time left for the date (February 14) fixed for the meeting with the farmers.

Sarwan Singh Pandher said that the government took a lot of time to organize the meeting. This is not our condition, but our demand is that the meeting should be held soon and it should be in Delhi. he/she said that the farmers were told that the date of February 14 has been fixed for the meeting, as the Model Code of Conduct is in force till February 9 in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. Pandher said that if the Center can announce the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission and no objection has been raised by the Election Commission, then what is the problem in holding the meeting with the farmers soon. Pandher said, ‘We have to intensify the fight in the coming times and we have to fight the government and for this it is necessary for the main leader to be healthy. Therefore, KMM appeals to Dallewal to start eating food, so that we can put pressure on the Center to accept our demands.
