Fact Check: Will Arvind Kejriwal really contest Delhi elections from two seats? Viral claim turned out to be misleading


New Delhi: The dates for Delhi Assembly elections have been announced a few days ago. According to which voting will take place in Delhi on 5th February and the results will come on 8th February. After the announcement of Delhi election dates, all the parties are releasing arrows of election promises from their quiver. Meanwhile, a claim is going viral on social media that former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will contest elections on two seats. However, the claim going viral on social media is just a rumor which has been rejected by Arvind Kejriwal himself.What are the claims of the users?
An ex-user named @samudragupta15 wrote on social media, ‘Heard that due to fear of defeat, Kejriwal will contest elections from two seats.
Correct – there is not a single voter in Delhi who supports you.

An ex-user named @RanjitRjk wrote, ‘The news is coming that Kejriwal will contest elections from two seats, now he/she is afraid of Delhi and his/her own defeat.’

Know the truth of viral claims

In Sajag’s investigation, the viral claim is just a rumour. When Sajjag’s team searched the social media handles of Aam Aadmi Party for these claims, no such post was found. In which it has been claimed that Arvind Kejriwal will contest from two seats in the Delhi Assembly elections. After that, Sajjag’s team started searching for video reports on YouTube and found a video report of Bharat 24 there. In which it was told that Arvind Kejriwal himself has announced that he/she will contest elections from only one seat.

After that the alert team presswire18 Times A report was also received. In which it was told that Arvind Kejriwal rejected the claims of contesting elections on two seats and said that he/she will contest elections only from New Delhi Assembly seat.
