Fact Check: Voices of Supriya Sule and Nana Patole in the audio shared by BJP! Know the truth behind

It was told that this clip is of Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole. Bharatiya Janata Party alleged that both the leaders were influencing the elections with the help of Bitcoin. In this clip, viral since November 19, it is claimed that the voices are of Supriya Sule and Nana Patole. However, after investigating the alleged audio, it was found that it is an AI generated voice. However, analysis of Logical Facts indicates that this audio clip, along with other audio clips, is fake and possibly created with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The audio clip, purportedly of Sule talking to Mehta, consists of four recordings in a woman’s voice addressing someone as ‘Gaurav’. The woman can be heard demanding cash in exchange for Bitcoin for the upcoming elections. The same voice assures ‘Gaurav’ that he/she need not worry about the investigation and that it will be taken care of “once they come to power”.

However, an analysis of the logical facts found several flaws in the voice clip. Firstly, there are unusual pauses between words, which indicate the use of AI. Second, the voice sounds like a robot, which does not have the rhythm of normal human speech. Misinformation Combat Alliance Deepfake Analysis Unit (DAU), of which Logically Facts is a part, also analyzed the audio clip using deepfake detection tools Hive Audio Detector, Hiya AI Voice Detection, True Media and Deepfake-O-Meter.

DeepFake-O-Meter indicated the likelihood of the audio clip being AI-generated, with its five classifiers rating the likelihood of the clip being AI-generated at 99.8 percent, 100 percent, 88.9 percent, 77.7 percent, and 96.0 percent. The Hive Audio Detector also found a high probability of the clip being AI-generated. TruMedia indicated that there was sufficient evidence of manipulation of the clip.

Upon completion of the analysis, the tool recorded a 100% confidence score for AI-generated audio detector, 97% confidence score for audio authenticity detector, and 95% confidence score for voice anti-spoofing analysis. Hiya AI Voice Detection also noted that the audio appeared to be AI generated, adding that there was a three percent match with live human markers.

Another claim of BJP.

In the second clip posted by the BJP, which has four different voice notes, a male voice, purportedly Gupta’s, can be heard addressing someone named Gaurav, asking him/her to exchange Bitcoin for a large sum of money. Supriya Sule told reporters that this is not my voice. All these voice notes and messages are fake. Congress leader Patole also said that he/she would take legal action to deal with the allegations against him/her. he/she said that an FIR has been registered against BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi and others, after which a defamation case will be filed.

However, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has claimed that he/she has identified the voices heard in the audio clip as those of his/her cousin sister (Sule) and a former colleague, and says that the tone and voice match theirs.
