The paper cutting viral on social media is allegedly from a newspaper named ‘Rashtriya Ujala’, in which the name of the correspondent is mentioned as ‘Pranav Dogra’. According to the clip, Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with Muslim board leaders in view of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Leaders like Sajjad Nomani, Mufti Mohammad Ismail, Asif Sekh were included in this meeting.

During this, Uddhav Thackeray apologized to those leaders and said that ‘it was a mistake to participate in the 1992 riots’. Apart from this, it was also said in the paper clip that leaders like Aditya Thackeray and Sanjay Raut were also present in the meeting.

Fact Check: Viral paper clip is fake

We searched for meetings between Muslim community leaders and Uddhav Thackeray mentioned in the clip but did not find any credible report that corroborates the viral claim. There was no information related to this meeting even on the social media accounts of these leaders.

We mentioned newspaper in the clip ‘National Light’ Searched about. We did not find any such news related to Uddhav Thackeray on its website. During this time, we found that Rashtriya Ujala has refuted this paper clip on its website and Facebook and called it fake.
