Fact Check: The claim regarding the video of the young man calling the police and demanding to take down the stars from the sky is misleading

New Delhi: A video is viral on social media. In the video, a young man points towards the sky and says that the wrong star has gone out. The people making the video are asking questions to the young man and the young man is answering the questions with full gusto.

What is the claim?

It is claimed that the young man drank alcohol and became intoxicated so he/she called the police. When the police came, they said that Tara had gone to the wrong place, take her down.

What is the truth?

To investigate the video, we resorted to reverse image search. We found this video posted by some other handles.

It is clear that this video is not recent but is from a few years ago. In the video, the policeman is asking whether you have a rope? So the young man is saying that he/she will get it. Then the policemen talk among themselves whether he/she will get down or not? Then asks the young man whether the star will come down or not? On this the young man says that you can see it. So in our investigation the claim made regarding landing the star turned out to be correct.

When we searched Google, we also found two news. ndtv And News 18 It has been reported in the news that social media users are also surprised by the action of the young man and everyone is having fun. News 18 had reported this news in October 2020 itself. That means, the video is at least four years old.

conclusion

In our investigation, the video and claims were found to be true but this incident is not recent. However, the user did not mention in his/her post that the incident is old. That is, the user has tried to spread confusion by posting an old video as if this is a recent incident. No evidence was found that the police might have beaten him/her. Therefore, our investigation found the claim to be misleading.
