Fact Check: The claim of removing the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan and installing the statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Prayagraj is misleading.

New Delhi: There is a lot of discussion about the Purna Mahakumbh being organized in Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh government has made huge arrangements in Sangam city so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience. For this, not only the city but also the surrounding areas have been brightened. Meanwhile, it is being claimed on social media that the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has also been installed in Prayagraj.

What is the claim?

It is claimed that the UP government has removed the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and installed the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan Vaish. Facebook user Raghavendra Singh Chauhan asks, claiming that the government could have installed the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj even if there was a statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan. Then what was the need to remove the emperor’s statue?

Another Facebook user named Kshatriya Youth has also claimed that the statue of Emperor Harshvardhan Bains has been installed 500 meters away from the Sangam Kumbh area and the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji is visible as the main attraction.

At the same time, ex-user Rakesh Asati has written that he/she felt happy after seeing the giant statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Prayagraj.

What is the truth?

To know whether the government has really installed the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji at the same place where the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan used to be? To investigate this, by extracting the keyframes of the video being shared on the social media post and doing a reverse image search, it was found that the video is not from Prayagraj but from Sambhaji Nagar. Many social media users have posted this video of Sambhajinagar.

Investigation revealed that the video is from Kranti Chowk in Sambhajinagar. When we took the street view of Sambhaji Nagar from Google Earth, we got this picture.

Then when we gathered information about the lighting tower seen in the video, it turned out to be from Varanasi. According to reports, these towers have been installed at Balsan intersection and Civil Lines of the city.

Then when I searched Google regarding the removal of the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan in Prayagraj, I found many news published in the month of October. abp news, Republic of India, immortal light, Dainik Bhaskar, Patrika News It has been reported in the news that SP chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has objected to the removal of the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan from Tikonia intersection.

When we took the help of Google Earth, we saw the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan installed at CMP Tiraha. That means the government has moved the statue one kilometer away and reinstalled it.

CMP Tiraha

conclusion

It is clear from our investigation that the videos and claims released on social media are misleading. In the video, the video of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue has been taken from Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra while the video of Illumination Tower has been taken from Prayagraj. The claim that the Uttar Pradesh government has removed the statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan and installed the statue of Shivaji before the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj was found to be absolutely false. It is true that there used to be a statue of Emperor Harsh Vardhan at Tikonia intersection in Prayagraj, which has been shifted by the government.
