Fact Check: Muslim youth did not threaten Hindu family in Mareth, know the real story of the fight

New Delhi: A video is being shared on different social media platforms in which a fight is seen between two groups. In the video, a young man is seen getting angry while an elderly man is seen holding him/her and trying to reason with him/her.

What is the claim?

It is being claimed that the young man creating ruckus is a Muslim who is threatening a Hindu family. Users have claimed that a Muslim has threatened to kill a Hindu family in Meerut.

What is the truth?

When I started investigating this video, I found this video of X handle @tyagivinit7. Information has been given along with the video that this incident has happened at Kaland Chungi in Sardhana, Meerut.

Taking cognizance of this video, UP Police tagged Meerut Police in the comment and directed to take necessary action. In response to this, Meerut Police had replied that a case has been registered at Sardhana police station. One accused has been arrested and sent to jail.

Then when we tried to get to the bottom of the matter, we found news related to the incident. A video posted on Kithore Media’s Facebook page on November 7 was found. This contains the complete statement of the victim in which he/she is telling that his/her name is Arshad Khan. Hindustan had published the statement of SHO Pratap Singh in its news. he/she had told that the investigation has revealed many other accused including Imran and Gufran. Police have registered the case and sent Imran to jail while search is on for Gufran, resident of Gujran Gate, and other accused. Meanwhile, Amar Ujala quoted CO Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal as saying that Islam’s son Imran has been arrested while Gufran and other accused are absconding and are being searched.

Investigation clearly shows that the video is genuine, but the claims are fake. After a fight between two groups in Meerut, one group definitely threatened the other, but both the groups were from Muslim families. Therefore, the claim that the threat maker is a Muslim and the victim is a Hindu is absolutely wrong.
