Fact Check: Know the truth about the viral video in the name of Punjab Police targeting Kejriwal and AAP government

New Delhi: No one knows when something will go viral on social media. Many times users also make videos viral with fake claims. One such video surfaced in which a reporter can be seen running behind the policeman. The reporter was running after the policeman saying that this Punjab Police is both selling and getting hashish sold. The video is being shared on different platforms quoting the Punjab Police of India, targeting Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party government.

When Vishvas News fact checked this viral video, it was found that the viral video is not from Punjab of India but from Punjab province of Pakistan. Pakistan’s video is being spread with fake claims.

What is there in the viral post?

While sharing the viral post, the Facebook user wrote, This is called… ‘High Level Ground Reporting’ If all the reporters become like this, then it will not take long for the country to improve! Anyway, this is Kejriwal’s Punjab Police, brother did not allow the face to be revealed.

investigation

Starting our investigation, the first thing we did was watch the video carefully. In the three second frame of the video, we saw the flag of Pakistan on the uniform of the policeman.

On this foundation, we took our investigation forward and searched the key frames of the viral video through Google Lens. On searching, we found this video uploaded on the profile of an X user on December 18, 2024. According to the information given here along with the video, this is a video from Pakistan Punjab. In this video we saw a logo with the name ‘SA times’.

Taking the investigation forward in this connection, we searched ‘SA Times’ on Google. And found a Facebook page with this name. Viral video on this page on 20 November 2024 upload Has been done Here also the video has been described as being from Punjab, Pakistan. Apart from this, it is written in the video that the police officer was caught selling common charas. The longer version of the viral video can be seen here.

Apart from this, in this video, the flag of Pakistan is clearly visible on the police uniform and on the reporter’s mic.SA Times‘ is also visible.

For confirmation related to the viral video, we contacted Pakistani journalist Adil Ali and shared the viral post with him/her. he/she confirmed to us that this video is from Pakistan only.

Now it was the turn to do social scanning of the Facebook user ‘Ramesh Verma Mauryavanshi’ who shared the fake post. We found that the user is followed by 21 thousand people. At the same time, posts inspired by a particular ideology are shared from this profile.

Vishvas News’s own investigation found that the video being viral is not from Punjab, India. This video is from Lahore in Punjab province of Pakistan. The video from Lahore is being spread with fake claims.
