Fact Check: Is this American instigating Kukis to kill Maitis in Manipur? know the truth

New Delhi: Are the Kuki rebels of the Christian community against the Hindu community Meitei in Manipur not only being instigated but also being given weapons for violence? Are the American Deep State and Christian organizations engaged in religious conversion active in Manipur and instigating the Kukis to commit genocide of the Meitis? A video is being released on social media claiming that a Christian preacher named Daniel Stephen Courtney, retired from the US Army, is giving drones to the Kukis and instigating them to kill the Maites. We have investigated this claim.

What is the claim?

The X handle named CEO Voice has posted a video. With this video it has been claimed that a new video of terrorist Daniel Stephen Courtney has surfaced. Terrorist leader and former US soldier Daniel is gifting bulletproof jackets and war material along with drones used by special forces to the Kukis in Manipur. Courtney Kuki is telling the terrorists to kill the Maites to protect their homes.

What is the truth?

While investigating this claim, we found two more posts on X itself. In both these posts, similar claims have been made that Daniel Courtney, retired from the US Army, is inciting the Kukis to kill the Maites in Manipur by giving them weapons of attack. One post is of Salahuddin Shoaib Chaudhary and the other is of Dhairya Maheshwari. Both are journalists. Salahuddin is a journalist for Bangladeshi newspaper and digital media organization Weekly Blitz. News with many sensational claims have been given in detail on his/her X handle. At the same time, Dhairya Maheshwari is also a journalist in Sputnik India. Both have posted the same video and made the same claims that Daniel Courtney is inciting violence against the Meites by arming Kuki militants in Manipur. Salahuddin Shoaib Chaudhary has also informed in his/her ex-post quoting his/her newspaper that Daniel Stephen Courtney is in contact with the former US Ambassador to Bangladesh, leader of BNP and one of the key figures of the Yunus regime.

At the same time, journalist Dhairya Maheshwari says that Courtney has been deported from India twice for violating visa rules. he/she was last deported from India last August.

Are these claims about Courtney true? As the investigation progressed, two old ex-posts of Syed Shoaib Chaudhary were found in which he/she had posted different pictures of Courtney. he/she has claimed in both his/her posts that Courtney was traveling around the North-Eastern states in the same car from West Bengal and carrying forward the work of religious conversion on the agenda of a Christian missionary. When we traced the owner of the car from its number plate, we found out that it was registered in the name of one Lalon De Pater from Alipurduar, West Bengal.

Then if we wanted to gather information about Lalan de Pater, we would have to find a facebook profile And one on a donation website Information Achieved. A picture found on the Facebook profile is of the same person seen in the picture posted by Salahuddin at 11.27 am on October 3, 2024. In this picture, this person in plain shirt is standing on the left side of Courtney. We also got Lalan’s mobile number and from the videos posted in the Facebook post and the symbols on the pictures found there, it became clear that Lalan is engaged whole-heartedly in propagating Christianity. The same claim is being made about Daniel Courtney also. From here the connection between the two was confirmed. Then we called Lalan’s mobile number twice, but after several rings the call got disconnected and no one picked up.

This has been explained in detail in Salahuddin’s post of October 3. Then we get Daniel’s facebook page Found in which a video of him/her was found from August 5, 2023. In this video he/she is accusing the Indian Government and BJP of atrocities on the Christians (Kukis) of Manipur. Daniel also posts the news of the allegations against him/her on his/her Facebook with sarcastic commentary.

While investigating the claim of providing drones and weapons to the Kuki rebels of Manipur, it was not known when the video was from but it was confirmed that it is the original video. The sound coming from the video has also not been tampered with. At many places in this video the sound is not very clear, so we transcribed it with Google tool. Due to the sound quality not being good, where the tool has written making, it is actually Meitei. It is clear from the transcription that violence against Meiteis is being talked about in the video. There is not just one but many evidences that Daniel is engaged in the work of religious conversion in India. Just watch this video from eight years ago.

Our investigation has fully confirmed the claim that Daniel Stephen Courtney supports cookies in Manipur. his/her Facebook Live video is a witness to this in itself. As far as the video included in the post is concerned, it is true that in it, people are being instigated against the Maitis. Our investigation has found the claim to be true.
