Social media users have posted a video with their claim in which some women are narrating about the incident. The quality of the video is very dull, hence it looks blurry. Due to this, even the faces of the people seen in the video cannot be recognized properly. Still we investigated whether the claim of Muslims threatening Hindus is true?

What is the claim after all?

Those who have posted videos on various social media platforms have all claimed that a mob of 400 to 500 Muslims surrounded 10-15 Dalit Hindu families and misbehaved with their women in Navsari, Gujarat. It has been claimed that Muslims threatened Hindu families with conditions similar to those of Hindus in Bangladesh. An X handle named Angry Saffron posted the video and wrote, ‘Navsari, Gujarat: 400-500 Muslims surrounded 10-15 Dalit Hindu families, molested the women and threatened to leave from there otherwise face persecution like Bangladesh. We investigated this video and the claims related to it. During investigation it became clear that there was a fight between two groups in Navsari on Saturday, 7th December. It is also true that one group was of Hindus and the other group was of Muslims. There was an altercation between the two groups regarding parking in an apartment on Dargah Road, after which the Muslim side gathered a large crowd. Videos of the dispute between the two parties started floating on social media. Claims started being made that Hindu families are being tortured in Painter Sheikh Gali of Kagdiwad area of ​​Navsari, they are being pressured to leave the locality, Hindu women of the area are receiving death threats. In the video, these women are seen narrating their ordeal while pleading for help.

After the video went viral, Hindu organization organized Ramdhun near Ramji temple. After Ramdhun, the crowd turned towards Dargah Road Extension, which was dispersed by the police. Then the police investigated the case and made six people accused and arrested four of them. Navsari SP Sushil Aggarwal says that the claims made on social media about mass killing of Hindu women and vacating the locality were rumors because no one made such a threat. A message has also been published on Navsari SP’s The message warned that strict action would be taken against spreading rumours.

However, when the video of this dispute spread on social media, the next day on December 8, a group of Hindus reached the police station and demanded strict action against the accused. Then the crowd started performing Ramdhun in the Ram temple. On the other hand, a crowd of Muslims gathered on Dargah Road and started pelting stones. The police have made more than 200 people accused in this incident.
