Fact Check: Have ISIS terrorists again started selling non-Muslim women in markets in Syria?

New Delhi: After the coup in Syria, ISIS terrorists have captured the regime. Syria is currently in the midst of chaos. Pictures of looting are coming from there. Meanwhile, a video is being shared on social media in which ISIS terrorists are putting women in a market and bidding for them. In the video, the terrorists can be heard saying loudly that they have Yazidi, Kurdish and Christian women whom they want to buy, buy them.

What is the claim?

X handle @AzatAlsalim posted a video and wrote, ‘We have Yazidi women, Kurdish women, Christian women! Come and take what is rightfully yours [सूरा 23 आयत 1-6]A sex slave! Our brave fighters had gone to capture them after killing their unbelieving husbands!’ Actually, ISIS terrorists are saying these things in the video. The terrorists have kept the women in chains and a terrorist is doing their bidding.

Reposting the same video on his/her X handle, Michael Granoff writes, ‘Our new neighbors. Right now there will be no student demonstration, nor will any resolutions be passed in the United Nations (UN), nor will there be an ICC investigation.

What is the truth?

The question is whether after the coup, ISIS terrorists have started snatching Yazidi, Kurdish and Christian women from their families and selling them? The question is also whether the Quran allows non-Muslim women to be made sex slaves? To find the answer to the first question, we started investigation on different fronts and found out that the video and audio tracks had been tampered with.

The issue of audio tampering can be understood because voice over has been added to the video. But why is the video track’s creation shown as being from January 1?

It is clear that the video is old. During the process of investigation, we found a news package on India TV’s YouTube channel which contained clips of this video. This video was uploaded on YouTube on November 5, 2014, which has been viewed nearly six lakh times so far.

Now in investigating the second claim, when we asked the question on the internet whether making and selling sex slaves is right in Islam? Sura 23 verse 6 states that those who maintain their sexual purity except sexual intercourse with their wives or the slaves of their right hand, are true Muslims. The Sura says – “they are free from blame”. That is, the one who has sexual intercourse with the maids should not be considered guilty of any kind for this. Here the right hand means that which is owned by someone.

Thus, after a long investigation, it has become clear that the video is at least 10 years old, however, the claim that the Quran’s verse itself permits the creation of sex slaves has been found to be true.
