Fact Check: Fake viral video of boys molesting girl in bus, know what is the truth


New Delhi: on social media these days Video A video has gone viral in which two boys are seen harassing a girl in a bus. In the video, these boys touch the girl inappropriately, after which another passenger confronts them and questions their behaviour. Social media users claim that the video is from Delhi, and are demanding action against the alleged culprits.A x user shared the video tagging the official exes of BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and wrote ‘Find these demons in Delhi quickly.’ At the time of writing this fact-check, the post had received 2.3 million views, 10,000 reposts and 14,000 likes. However, this claim is false. The viral clip has been taken from a scripted video and shared as a real incident.

investigation

On Google search, on February 23, 2023, from a channel named ‘Aman Beniwal’ youtube A longer version of the viral clip was found uploaded to (archive) HereIn the 13-minute video titled ‘Bus’, two boys are seen harassing a young woman standing in front of them on the bus. A co-traveller wearing a white shirt intervenes and questions the boys about their behaviour. A verbal altercation occurs between them, in which the boy wearing a white shirt asks the girl why she did not speak out against the incident. After this, they all get off the bus, and both boys are seen apologizing to the young woman. In this YouTube video, you can see the scenes going viral between the timestamps of 1:05 and 1:54.

This Youtube channel We also checked other videos on YouTube and found that it mainly shares scripted content. The man wearing a white shirt in the viral clip is seen in several other videos, which Here And Here Can be seen. Aman Beniwal’s facebook page (archive Here), which is linked to the same YouTube channel that originally posted the viral clip. The account bio describes him/her as a ‘digital creator’, and shares some of the scripted content featured on the YouTube channel. This confirms that the video is scripted and performed by actors and not a real event.
