Fact Check: Did UP Police break CCTV cameras in Sambhal? You will be shocked to know the truth


New Delhi: Many videos of the violence that took place during the survey of Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh are going viral on social media. However, out of all those videos, some posts are also being shared with false claims. Recently a video is being shared on social media, in which it is claimed that UP Police is breaking CCTV cameras to hide their actions. However, when Sajjag’s team investigated this video, this claim was proved to be completely false.

What are the claims of the users?

While sharing the video on social media, an ex-user @falane_0 claimed that we have not seen the Kashmir files but are watching the Sambhal files live, one can see the CCTV cameras installed at people’s houses in Sambhal, how the policemen are breaking them. If the phones of all the police and officers of Sambhal are checked, it will be known who has organized the riot and why?

This video has also been shared on the Instagram account named Aamir Janaita Wale Ladake. On which it is written, Policemen in Sambhal.

What was found in the investigation?

When Sajjag’s team started investigating these viral claims and videos, they found some videos and X-posts. Who were four years old. First of all, Sajjag’s team reverse searched the video with the help of Google Lens. After which he/she received an ex-post dated 26 February 2020. In which it was told that the police seen in the video is Delhi Police and not UP.

After this post it became clear that this video is not about violence. A post from the year 2020 claimed that Delhi Police was breaking CCTV cameras. When Sajjag’s team again searched Delhi Police brake CCTV on Google, The Quint found a Report Found. In which it was told that Delhi Police had broken CCTV cameras near the protest site in Khureji.

According to The Quint report, Delhi Police broke the camera installed near the petrol pump in Khureji because it was installed by the protesters. he/she used to monitor with that camera. Soldiers are seen breaking a CCTV camera near Khureji protest in north-east Delhi.

conclusion: UP Police’s claim of breaking CCTV cameras in Sambhal turned out to be false. In the investigation of the alert team, this video was not found to be of UP Police. The viral video is from Delhi and the soldiers seen in the video are also from Delhi Police. Police personnel are breaking the CCTV cameras installed by the protesters.
