Fact Check: Did the father have to carry his/her son’s body on a bike after the Tirupati temple accident? Claim found misleading during investigation


New Delhi: Six people have died and 40 have been injured in the stampede at Tirupati temple on Wednesday. The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital. However, meanwhile, a video is going viral on social media. While sharing this video, it was claimed that the person killed in the Tirupati accident did not even get an ambulance. Due to which a father was forced to carry the dead body of his/her son on a bike. How true is the claim being made on social media? Let us find out in this investigation.

What are the claims of the users?

While sharing the video on social media, an ex-user named @rajpushp1111 wrote, ‘There is a father in the Tirupati accident who could not even get an ambulance. Carrying his/her son on his/her shoulders. This is not putting humanity to shame.

While retweeting a post, an ex-user named @JaydeepMirdha also wrote – ‘There is a father in the Tirupati accident who could not even get an ambulance. Carrying his/her son on his/her shoulders. This is not putting humanity to shame.

What is the truth of the viral video?

Sajjag’s team tried to find out the truth of the viral video, did this really happen in the Tirupati temple accident or not? For this, Sajjag’s team extracted keyframes of the viral video and searched it with the help of Google Lens. After which Sajjag’s team got an ex-post of TNIE Andhra Pradesh. Which was in the month of April last year. The video seen in this post and the viral video were the same.

When this X-post surfaced, it became clear that the viral video is not of the Tirupati temple accident. The post said that on Tuesday morning, a father was forced to take his/her son’s body on a motorcycle to his/her village, 90 kilometers away from Tirupati. his/her son died of kidney failure. The private ambulance operator at Ruia Government Hospital had refused to reduce their prices.

Now Sajjag’s team started searching for reports related to this video on Google. after which siasat.com But a report dated 26 April 2024 was received. In which it was told that the father, unable to afford the ambulance, was forced to carry his/her son’s body on a motorcycle.

After that the alert team The Hindu A report was also received. In which it was told that a father took his/her son’s body 90 kilometers on a bike.
