However, after Stalin’s death, when Nikita Khrushchev took power in 1954, he/she exposed Stalin’s cruel face to the world. After which it became difficult for Svetlana to even step out of the house. Fed up with people’s taunts, Svetlana changed her surname to her mother’s. After which she started being called Svetlana Aliluyeva.

Love story started from hospital

Although changing the surname did not make much difference, people from the ruling party always kept an eye on him/her. Meanwhile, one day her health deteriorated and she was admitted to a hospital. When she was admitted in the hospital, she met a man there. Who was Brajesh Singh and he/she worked in a press in Moscow. Svetlana and Brajesh talked a lot in the hospital. This conversation continued even after they were discharged from the hospital. Gradually the conversation turned into love and both came closer to each other.

sought permission to go to india

When their love blossomed, Svetlana planned to marry Brajesh. he/she met the Prime Minister of the Soviet Union and asked for his/her permission. However, Svetlana did not get permission from there. he/she said that Svetlana should marry a Russian citizen. Brajesh died in 1966 while seeking permission. After Brajesh’s death, Svetlana wanted to bring his/her ashes to India but she did not get permission to travel abroad. However, he/she did not give up and then a year later in 1967, he/she met the then Premier of Russia Leonid Brezhnev and asked for permission to go to India and he/she got permission.

After which Svetlana came to India in 1967 and spent several months in Brajesh Singh’s village Kalakankar in Pratapgarh district and then came to Delhi. Svetlana liked India and asked permission from the Indian government to live here. However, India did not give him/her permission at that time. When the Kremlin came to know about this, they sent orders to Svetlana to return to Moscow but she refused.

Svetlana went to America

Then, in March 1967, Richard Celeste, assistant to US Ambassador to India Chester Bowles, received an important call from CIA’s Delhi Station Chief Dave Bly. Bly asks Celeste to come to his/her office immediately. Upon reaching the embassy, Celeste learns that a woman has come to the embassy claiming that she is the daughter of Joseph Stalin. This claim left everyone stunned. If this claim were true, it could have serious political consequences. After this, Svetlana was sent to Switzerland by special plane that night. Where George Keenan told that she was actually Stalin’s daughter. After which he/she set foot in New York on 12 April 1967. After which the news came that amidst the Cold War, the Kremlin’s princess had come to America to seek refuge for freedom. However, after this the relations between India and the Soviet Union turned sour. The Soviet Union alleged that CIA officers helped Svetlana escape to the United States. After which Rikhi Jaipal from India, who was an officer in the Special Ministry at that time, was sent to Switzerland where she got Svetlana to sign a letter. In which it was written that the Indian authorities did not help him/her at all.

Conclusion: On Social Media The claim of Joseph Stalin’s daughter marrying an Indian prince is just a rumour. In Sajjak’s investigation, no such report was found where there were pictures of both the weddings. However, according to TOI and Pratrika reports, both were not married.
