Fact Check: Did RSS chief blame Modi government for Manipur violence? Know the truth of the viral post


New Delhi: Modi government has been formed for the third time in the country. After the formation of the new government, a post is becoming increasingly viral on social media. The viral post is being made in the name of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat. It is being claimed in the post that Mohan Bhagwat has said that there was peace in Manipur for 10 years, but violence broke out there after the formation of Modi government. In our investigation, this claim turned out to be misleading.

What’s in the viral post?
This post is becoming increasingly viral on social media. On Facebook Named Sunil Yadav A user wrote in the post, ’10 years ago there was peace in Manipur, after the formation of Modi government, violence suddenly increased there – Mohan Bhagwat RSS chief’.

he/she further wrote in the post, ‘RSS chief was in deep sleep till now, he/she has opened his/her mouth after the election results and the formation of NDA government. he/she is the last king of RSS. NSG has been deployed for his/her service for the first time. RSS is opening offices in big palaces. RSS people are traveling in private planes, now they do not need Gurudakshina. Sangh Parivar is enjoying power.’

How did you investigate the viral post?
To verify the claim made in the viral post, we searched the related keywords on Google. This led us to a video of Bhagwat posted on RSS’s X (Twitter) account on June 10. In this video, Bhagwat says, ‘Manipur has been waiting for peace for a year. Before this, it was peaceful for 10 years. It seemed that the old gun culture had ended. And suddenly the conflict that was created or instilled there is still burning in its fire, it is crying for help. Who will pay attention to this? It is our duty to consider it by giving it priority.’

Apart from this, we also found this video on the X handle of news agency ANI, which was posted on June 10 itself. The post said that this video is of a program held in Nagpur. The same statement of Mohan Bhagwat can be heard in the video, in which he/she is not seen taking the name of Modi government anywhere.

One of Dainik Jagran’s Report Mohan Bhagwat’s statement can also be read in this report. This report was published on 10 June itself. According to the report, the Sangh chief gave this statement in the closing ceremony of ‘Karyakarta Vikas Varg-II’ organized in Dr. Hedgewar Smriti Bhavan premises. It is also written in the news that last year violence broke out between two communities in Manipur. So far about 200 people have lost their lives in this violence.

Former RSS Prant Pracharak Rajeev Tuli has also denied the viral post. he/she said, ‘The viral claim is wrong. he/she had said that there was peace there for nine-ten years, but violence has been happening there for the last one year.

We scanned the profile of the Facebook user who made the misleading claim. he/she is influenced by an ideology. The user has around 5 thousand followers.

conclusion
Our investigation revealed that the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is being distorted and shared on social media. he/she did give a statement on Manipur violence, but it did not contain anything about the Modi government.
