Fact Check: Did Harihar Pandey, the petitioner in the Gyanvapi Masjid case, die last Sunday? claim turned out to be false


New Delhi: Amid the ongoing controversy regarding Sambhal’s Jama Masjid, petitioner Harihar Pandey of Varanasi’s Gyanvapi Masjid has come into discussion on social media. Many users on social media claimed that Harihar Pandey died in BHU on Sunday morning. Along with all the posts, a picture of a lawyer wearing a tilak is also going viral.

What did the users claim?

On social media, a user named @virjust18 posted on X, ‘Who is this person? Has anyone recognized this person? Identification is done by one’s actions. If you don’t recognize him/her then perhaps his/her deeds will not be good. Harihar Pandey, who had filed the petition for Gyanvapi Masjid, has gone to hell without fulfilling his/her dream. Sad news. Instruct the family to have patience and to stop doing wrong things. Harihar Pandey, petitioner in the Gyanvapi campus case, died in BHU on Sunday morning. Out of the three petitioners, two petitioners Somnath Vyas and Ramnarayan Sharma have already gone to hell. I can’t see how much wrong is happening with the blind devotees, anyway, if you do whatever you want then good will happen, bad will end badly.

Another user @SkpGmail also posted on Harihar Pandey, petitioner in the Gyanvapi campus case, died in BHU on Sunday morning.

The truth came out in the investigation

When Sajag’s team investigated this viral post, it was found that the claim of Harihar Pandey’s death turned out to be old. First of all, Sajag’s team searched the keyword Harihar Pandey’s death on Google and then presswire18 Times Online’s article on December 11 Report Found. According to which, Harihar Pandey, who filed the case of Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi Court in the year 1991, passed away. his/her petition was recently heard in Allahabad High Court. An objection has been lodged from the Muslim side on the maintainability of the case. There was a steady stream of people condoling his/her demise.

While sharing the same viral picture, it was told that Advocate Raja Anand Jyoti Singh, former Vice President of Central Bar Varanasi, had passed away. It is being told that Maqbool died during treatment in a private hospital located on Alam Road after food poisoning.
