Fact Check: Congress candidate got 0 votes from Dhule seat of Maharashtra? Know the truth of the viral claim on social media


New Delhi:After the declaration of Maharashtra Assembly election results, a video clip is quite viral on social media. This clip of about 24 seconds shows a crowd of people creating ruckus. Users are sharing this video clip as being from Awadhan village of Dhule Rural Assembly constituency and claiming that Congress candidate Kunalbaba Rohidas Patil did not get a single vote from here. PTI Fact Check Desk investigated and found the viral claim to be fake. Investigation revealed that Kunalbaba Rohidas Patil got 227, 234, 252 and 344 votes respectively at 4 polling stations located in Avadhan village of Dhule Rural Assembly constituency. That means Congress candidate Patil got a total of 1,057 votes from this village. District Information Office, Dhule has also confirmed this.

What is the real claim, know
While sharing the viral video on November 25, Facebook page ‘Modi Lies’ wrote that Congress got 0 votes in this village of Maharashtra. The villagers are protesting that they voted for Congress. One election after another is becoming suspicious. of post Link,archive link See more screenshots here.

Another user on Facebook wrote that 70% of the people of Avadhan village in Maharashtra are protesting. The reason is that despite their voting, Congress has got 0 votes here. The investigation revealed the real truth
On reverse searching the ‘key frames’ of the viral video, we found this video ‘Dr. Found on the account of ‘X’ user named ‘Sangram Gokulsingh Patil’. While sharing the video on November 24, he/she claimed that Avadhan village, Kunal Baba is showing 0 votes.. 70% of the people of the village work in his/her organization..there are staunch workers..who are protesting..this is certain. Is clearly a scam. Probably after this post other users also started sharing it considering it to be true. See the link of the post, archive link and screenshot here.

During investigation, the desk found the comment of District Information Office, Dhule in the comment of this post. Denying any such incident, he/she wrote, ‘It is not clear where this video is from. Also, Dhule Rural Constituency Election Returning Officer Rohan Kuwar said that no such case has been reported in Dhule. Post link and archive link Click here to see.

Commenting on the same post, District Information Office, Dhule wrote that there are total 4 polling stations in 06- Dhule Rural Assembly Constituency and they are 247, 248, 249 and 250. Quoting Dhule Rural Assistant Election Officer, he/she wrote, ‘Kunalbaba Rohidas Patil got 227, 234, 252 and 344 votes respectively at these polling stations.’ See the archive link and screenshot of the post here.

During investigation, PTI Fact Check found that information related to the votes polled by candidates of 06 – Dhule Rural Assembly Constituency was also obtained at different polling stations. According to the information given, Kunalbaba Rohidas Patil got 227, 234, 252 and 344 votes respectively at 4 polling stations located in Avadhan village of Dhule Rural Assembly constituency. According to the information given on the Election Commission website, BJP candidate Raghavendra (Ramdada) Manohar Patil has won from Dhule Rural Assembly seat by 66320 votes. In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Mahayuti alliance returned to power with a thumping majority and won 230 seats in the 288-member assembly. The Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was reduced to just 46 seats. The Election Commission announced that BJP won 132 seats, Shiv Sena won 57 seats, while NCP won 41 seats. conclusion: PTI Fact Check From the investigation so far, it is clear that the claim of Congress candidate Kunalbaba Rohidas Patil getting 0 votes in Avadhan village of Dhule Rural Assembly constituency is fake. District Information Office, Dhule has confirmed this. However, our investigation did not make it clear where the viral video was from.
