Fact Check: Claim of rape and murder of Hindu girl in Bangladesh is just a rumour, know the truth of the fake post

Meanwhile, a woman’s picture is becoming quite viral on social media. While sharing that picture, it was claimed that a woman named Atika was raped and murdered in Bangladesh.

What was claimed?

Many users have shared the picture of a woman named Atika with the same caption on social media. In which it was claimed that the name of this girl from Bangladesh is Atika, at one time she used to actively participate in the student movement of Bangladesh, but as soon as the government changed, her fellow Jihadis gang-raped her and killed her.

What was found in the investigation?

When Sajjag’s team fact-checked these posts, the claims being made about the woman turned out to be completely fake. First of all, Sajjag’s team searched the woman’s photo through reverse image on Google and found a facebook profile Found, in which the woman’s name was Atika. When the photos inside the profile were searched, other photos and information of that woman were also found in the profile page.

Claim of woman’s death is false

Atika’s death was claimed on social media on 13th November but we did not find any information regarding her death on her profile. Not only this, Atika’s profile is still active and the last update on it is Post It was a few hours ago. In which it is written – Does anyone have the power to stop the slogan of Jai Bangla on the soil of Bengal? Due to which the claim of Atika’s death was proved to be fake.

Atika is a student leader

When Sajjag’s team searched Atika’s profile, it was found that she is the president of Ruqaiya Hall in Bangladesh Students League. When this information was searched on Google, her full name was revealed, which is Atiqa Binte Hussain. After this one on Google Report Barta 24 was found. In which it was told that on July 16, 2024, Atiqa was thrown out along with eight other BCL members from Ruqaiya Hall of Dhaka University.
