Fact Check: Are police keeping an eye on people by installing cameras in helmets? Users’ claims turned out to be fake


New Delhi: In the country, a fine is imposed for riding a motorcycle or scooter without wearing a helmet. However, even after that many people violate the rules. The traffic police remains in alert mode to catch these people. For such people, a claim is being made on social media that now the police are roaming around with helmet cameras to catch people without helmets. Let us know what is the truth of this viral claim.

What are the claims of the users?

A user named @GirdhariLal2016 has shared a video on social media. In which a person is seen riding a bike with a camera like thing installed on his/her helmet. While sharing this video, the user claimed that the person wearing the helmet is a police employee and there is a camera installed on the helmet.

While sharing the video, another user @divyakumaari wrote, ‘Nowadays people without helmets should be alert, police are roaming around with helmet cameras.’

What was found in the investigation?

When Sajjag’s team investigated the viral video, the truth came out to be something else. Sajjag’s team first checked the video going viral on social media with the help of Google Lens. Instagram page named sonu_bike_service found. In which a mechanic is seen repairing the bike wearing such a helmet.

It is written on the page of this Instagram profile that this page belongs to Gulsher Malik and he/she has a shop named Sonu Bike Service. In many videos seen in the profile, Gulsher Malik is seen repairing the bike wearing this helmet.

When we started searching for the viral video in the profile, we found a viral video uploaded 4 weeks ago.

After that, Sajag’s team also watched some other videos of Gulsher Malik and in one of the videos, he/she was seen making a helmet like this. In which the screen is attached in front.

After watching some other videos, I also found a video like this. In which a light is visible on top of his/her helmet. This helmet is exactly like the viral video. Due to which it became clear that a light has been installed on the helmet and not a camera.

conclusion: The claim of police roaming around the country with helmets with cameras is completely fake. Sajjak’s investigation revealed that there was a light installed on the helmet and not a camera. This video is being shared with false claims.
