Explainer: There are no facilities in Greater Noida, then why did Afghanistan choose it

New Delhi. The only test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand has been mired in controversies. The match was to start on 9 September at Greater Noida Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex Ground. Two days of the test match have been wasted and the toss has not been conducted yet. Two days of the match were wasted due to the outfield being wet. Questions are being raised about the facilities and arrangements here. The Afghanistan Cricket Board official even said that they will never come to play at this place again. But the question arises that why was this ground chosen for the test against New Zealand.

The only Test match played in India between Afghanistan and New Zealand is in the news. Awnings were used to cover the outfield in the Greater Noida stadium. Electric fans were brought to dry the wet outfield. Ground covers were borrowed from DDCA and super soppers from UPCA but the second day’s play could not be held in the Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand. Not even a single ball could be bowled for the second consecutive day at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. Big questions are being raised on this stadium.
