Evil intentions will fail… Strict security on the world’s highest rail bridge, why is this bridge so special

New Delhi: On Thursday, for the first time a train was run on the world’s highest rail bridge built on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir. This eight-coach MEMU train ran at a speed of 40 km per hour on the 46 km long route between Sangaldan railway station and Reasi. Its trial was successful. Now soon passenger trains will start running on this bridge after CRS inspection. Considering the way terrorist attacks have increased in Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past, securing this bridge will also be a big challenge.

What is the importance of this bridge?

After the construction of this bridge on the Chenab river, the Kashmir valley will now have rail connectivity not only with Jammu but also with the rest of the country. This bridge is 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower. This bridge, 359 meters high from the river bed and 1315 meters long, has been completed in about 20 years. It has been completed under the 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link Project (USBRL). This project is one of the most challenging projects taken up by the railways since India’s independence. Under this, 38 tunnels, 927 bridges were built. In this, the 12.75 km T-49 tunnel, the country’s longest transport tunnel, was also built. This is the world’s highest arch bridge built on the Chenab river, an important part of this project.

Terrorists may be eyeing it

Experts associated with security agencies say that the way terrorists tried to draw the attention of the whole world by attacking Reasi about an hour before the swearing-in ceremony of NDA Government-3 at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9, in view of this, attacking this world’s highest iconic bridge will be their target. Intelligence agencies are keeping an eye on this. So that if any terrorist group tries to cause any damage to this bridge, then their intentions can be thwarted before they are accomplished. Apart from Chenab Bridge, terrorists may try to attack other places in Jammu and Kashmir. In this, they are currently running away after carrying out terror attacks using strategies like guerilla warfare.

Every evil plan will be foiled

The security forces have made adequate arrangements to prevent the terrorists from casting their evil eyes on this world’s tallest bridge. Sources say that with the construction of this bridge, security has been ensured 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No outsider can cross this bridge, let alone go near it. According to sources, seeing the way terrorists have been attacking in Jammu and Kashmir for some time now, a review was done last year to ensure the safety of railway lines, trains and rail passengers in the entire Jammu and Kashmir. In this, wherever the need was felt, not only RPF but also GRP, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel have been deployed there. Some separate posts have also been created for this. This now includes ensuring the security of the bridge before the rail traffic starts on the Chenab Bridge. Sources say that in the coming time, this bridge will also attract tourists from the tourism point of view. Keeping this in mind, strong security arrangements have been made here.

Security has also been put in place on other bridges and tunnels

Security forces say that not only Chenab Bridge, but wherever tunnels and bridges have been built in Jammu and Kashmir to divert train traffic, security cover has been provided as per the need. Apart from trains, security arrangements are being made at all other important points of the state. In view of the increased terrorist attacks for some time, the number of security forces is also being increased. Recently, the Union Home Ministry had reviewed the security of the entire Jammu and Kashmir state. This also included reviewing the security of the Amarnath Yatra. In such a situation, the Government of India is planning to end the terrorism that has been emerging in Jammu and Kashmir for some time. In this, the help of local people is also being taken, so that if any suspicious person is living or coming and going around them, then they can inform the local police or other security forces in time.
