World TB Day on 24 March every year is celebrated. Its purpose is to spread awareness about this respiratory disease. TB is an infectious disease, which is a very chronic disease. It remains a big threat to the whole world. There are about 10 million cases of TB every year in the world. The highest number of TB cases are seen in India which is close to 2.69 million of the total cases.

Despite so much development in the health sector, India is suffering from this dangerous disease. 4.5 lakh people die every year it occurs. The shocking thing is that 40 percent of India’s population is infected with this bacteria. Symptoms and Types of TB

TB can appear in two forms, pulmonary and extrapulmonary. Symptoms of pulmonary TB include cough, fever, chest pain, shortness of breath, bloody mucus, loss of weight, and loss of appetite. It is identified by examining the sputum. TB can also resemble other diseases, which makes it challenging to diagnose.

Factors such as poor coughing practices, poor nutrition, lack of health education, poor ventilation, and lack of counseling contribute to the spread of TB. Counseling about the disease, drugs and duration of treatment is essential to combat the growing prevalence of TB.
