Even after studying from IIT, only 30 thousand rupees job, once again thousands of graduates remained unemployed!


IIT Bombay on Tuesday said that about 75 percent of the students have got jobs in campus placements for the academic year 2023-24. This year the institute has achieved its second biggest achievement in placements. IITs often present their excellent placement figures. However, a recent analysis tells a different story. In contrast to these success stories, a large number of students in these institutes were found unemployed after the 2024 campus placement season. Apart from this, many students have received a package of Rs 4 lakh after graduation from IIT.

According to reports, this year the minimum package of IIT Bombay has fallen to 4 lakhs, according to which a student will get an in-hand salary of about 30 to 33 thousand rupees. Apart from this, 8 thousand students did not get even this level of job despite being IIT graduates.

A recent analysis of placement data has revealed that a lot of IIT students did not get a job in 2024. IIT Kanpur alumnus and placement mentor Dheeraj Singh has shared three years of data on LinkedIn. According to this, the number of students without placements this year has almost doubled compared to 2023.

Dheeraj Singh has collected this information on the basis of 23 Right to Information (RTI) replies, annual reports, media coverage and information received from students. This information shows that 21,500 students had registered for campus placement in IIT in 2024. Out of these, only 13,410 students got a job, while 8,090 students are still looking for a job.

There has been a huge increase in the number of students without placements this year compared to 2023. In 2023, about 20,000 students had registered for placements. Of these, 15,830 students got jobs, with an average annual package of Rs 17.1 lakh per annum. At the same time, 4,170 students could not get a job through campus placement.

Similarly, in 2022, out of the 17,900 students who registered during campus placements at IITs, more than 3,000 students did not get a job. Singh said in his/her LinkedIn post that the average CTC that year was Rs 17.2 lakh per annum. Which has now come down.
