Enmity between Rishi Kapoor and Salim-Javed! Threatened to ruin career like Rajesh Khanna

Late actor Rajesh Khanna may not be in this world today, but there are many memories related to him/her, which are often mentioned. he/she started his/her acting career at around the same time when the writers duo Salim Khan-Javed Akhtar were also establishing their footing in the industry. On many occasions their views did not agree with each other. Matters escalated when Rishi refused to work in a film written by him/her. Salim Khan became very angry after rejecting the film offer. On one hand his/her first movie ‘Bobby’ was a blockbuster and on the other hand Javed Akhtar also got upset.

Rishi Kapoor, in his/her autobiography ‘Khullam Khulla’, recalled the threat that Salim Khan once gave him/her. he/she had rejected the offer of his/her film ‘Trishul’.

Salim Sahab was angry at Rishi

Rishi Kapoor writes in his/her book that when the film was rejected, Salim-Javed got upset. The enmity increased when they met Salim in a hotel in Mumbai. he/she wrote, ‘I was playing snooker, when Salim Sahab came to me and said to me, ‘How dare you refuse Salim-Javed? I was not afraid. I also replied, ‘I didn’t like the role.’

Had you taken revenge from Rajesh Khanna?

Rishi recalled that Salim Khan bragged about launching Amitabh Bachchan and made it seem as if it was done to take revenge from Rajesh Khanna as he/she too had once rejected Salim-Javed.

Rajesh Khanna’s career suffered a setback with the arrival of Amitabh. Even his/her stardom was over. Rishi further wrote, ‘Salim Sahab boasted to me, ‘Do you know that till date no one has refused us? We can ruin your career.

‘We will do the same with you’

When Rishi asked Salim Khan what he/she had in mind, the writer said, ‘Who will work with you? You know, we had offered ‘Zanjeer’ to Rajesh Khanna and he/she rejected us. We didn’t do anything with him/her, but we created his/her replacement, a hero named Amitabh Bachchan, who ruined Rajesh Khanna. We will do the same with you. Rishi wrote that this dispute did not progress further.
