Email to bomb a flight was sent for fun, minor caught from Uttarakhand


NBT News, New Delhi : A 13-year-old minor who had sent an email threatening to bomb a flight from Delhi to Dubai has been caught by the IGI Airport Police from Uttarakhand. Later, he/she was produced in the Juvenile Court and handed over to his/her parents. Investigation revealed that another minor had been influenced by the accused and had sent the fake email for fun. The mobile phone from which he/she had sent the email has also been seized from him/her.

Threatening email sent on June 18

DCP Usha Rangnani said that on June 18, a flight flying from Delhi to Dubai received an email threatening to blow it up with a bomb. This email was received by DIAL. Then the police got the information. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, all the passengers were evacuated safely. The case was registered and investigation was started. A team was formed under the supervision of ACP VKPS Yadav. Then when the email was investigated, it was found that the email was deleted immediately after sending it.

After technical investigation, a 13-year-old minor was caught from Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. On interrogation, it was found that he/she studies in the ninth grade. A few days ago, I read a news on social media in which a minor had given fake information about a bomb in a flight. Influenced by this, he/she also sent an email from his/her mobile.
