Elon Musk threatens to ban all Apple devices from his/her companies over OpenAI deal

Hours after the iPhone maker announced its partnership with OpenAI on Monday (local time), Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk hit out at Apple, calling it an “unacceptable security breach” which he/she said would force him/her to ban all Apple devices from his/her companies.

Musk expressed concerns over the security of user information in several posts on the social media platform X.

Calling the integration between the two companies “an unacceptable security breach,” Musk said, “I don’t want it.”

“Either stop this horrific spyware or I will ban all Apple devices on my companies’ premises,” Musk said in a tweet responding to a post by Apple CEO Tim Cook on X.

Introducing Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad and Mac, Cook wrote in a post on X, “It’s personal, powerful and private – and it’s integrated into the apps you rely on every day.”

“Introducing Apple Intelligence — our next chapter in AI,” he/she wrote.

The Tesla CEO further added, “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, Apple devices will be banned in my companies. This is an unacceptable security breach,” he/she said.

Technology giant Apple on Monday (local time) introduced ‘Apple Intelligence’, a personal intelligence system for iPhones, iPads and Macs.

Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia.

It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, perform actions across apps, and leverage personal context to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

Questioning security and privacy through the integration of AI, Musk further said, “It is patently absurd that Apple is not smart enough to create its own AI, yet is somehow able to claim that OpenAI will protect your security and privacy!”

“Apple has no idea what really happens once they hand over your data to OpenAI. They are cheating on you,” the Tesla CEO wrote on X.
