Electronics Export: China has achieved the position of the uncrowned king in the world of electronics. But India is also not far behind in this matter. Not only this, by 2026, India is planning a big change in this sector. According to the latest estimates of the government, India’s electronics business will ring in the next 3 to 4 years and India’s electronics exports will reach 120 billion dollars by the financial year 2025-26.

Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, Skill Development, Electronics and Technology Rajiv Chandrashekhar on Friday said India’s electronics exports will reach $120 billion by the financial year 2025-26 and this will be possible only through partnership of state governments with the Centre. Chandrashekhar said this at the inauguration of Pegatron Technology India Pvt Ltd, a new and state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Mahindra World City here.

These figures will upset China

  • The country manufactures an estimated $70-75 billion of electronics, which is targeted to reach $300 billion by 2025-26.
  • India used to import 90 per cent mobiles till 2014 and now it is meeting 97 per cent of its mobile phone requirement on its own.
  • India did not export mobile phones till 2014. But now it is exporting iPhones, Samsung phones and other phones worth Rs 50,000 crore.
  • Used to import 90 per cent mobile phones and now produce 97 per cent domestically.

Mobile exports worth $ 20 billion

Describing this as just a start, Chandrasekhar said that mobile phones worth $ 16-20 billion are being exported now and by the financial year 2025-26, the export of electronics products will reach $ 120 billion. The minister said that this would be possible due to the partnership of the state governments with the central government and the schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pegatron Technology India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pegatron Corporation of Taiwan. The construction cost of this plant has come to Rs 1,100 crore and through this 14,000 new jobs will be created in the region.
