Electricity bill will not come in this state from September 1, the government took a big decision before the celebration of independence

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has given great news to the people of his state amid the celebration of independence. While making a big announcement, Mann said that about 51 lakh families of the state will not have to pay electricity bills from September 1. After dedicating the 66 kilo volt Butari- Beas line in the state to the people, the Chief Minister said that the state government has provided free 600 units of electricity to every section of the society in every bill.

Out of 74 lakhs, 51 lakhs benefited

At present there are more than 74 lakh electricity consumers in Punjab. Out of these 51 lakh houses will get the benefit of this announcement of the state government. These consumers will get zero electricity bill from September 1. Earlier, the Kejriwal government of Aam Aadmi Party has provided free electricity in the capital Delhi as well. However, now the Delhi government is also giving the option of giving up the option of subsidy to the people.

Bill comes every two months in Punjab

According to the electricity supply rules in the state of Punjab, the customers have to pay the electricity bill every other month. Here the billing cycle is of 2 months. In a statement, CM Mann said that for the first time the farmers of the state have got regular, without any cut and surplus power. On 66 KV line, Bhagwant Mann said that this important line which regularly illuminates 70 villages of border districts is burning since last one decade.

On June 27 this year, the new government of Punjab presented the first budget. Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while presenting the budget, had said that providing 300 units of free electricity would put an additional burden of Rs 1,800 crore on the exchequer. Punjab provides subsidized power to different categories, of which the subsidy bill on account of free electricity to the agriculture sector alone is around Rs 7,000 crore.
