Drones will remove fog, UP university gets grant, DSMRU professor explains how the technology will work

Dr. Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University (DSMRU) has received a grant from the Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (UPCST) to research new drone technology for fog removal. Rs 12.72 lakh has been given for two years. The team will have to prepare the drone in these two years.

Dr. Dinesh Kumar Nishad, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, DSMRU, said that a few months ago, he/she had developed fog removal drone technology in collaboration with the Airport Authority. he/she had also taken a patent for this technology. This technology will help in removing dense and light fog. Due to which visibility will increase.

How will the fog removing drone work

With the help of drone technology, UV light will be used to remove light fog. At the same time, a technique has been developed to absorb the moisture present in the air by flying four or more drones simultaneously during heavy fog. he/she said that this process of absorbing moisture from the atmosphere is known as droplet collector. This will help in clearing the fog and the difficulties faced during flight and take-off of aircraft will be eliminated to a great extent.

he/she told that till now only the design of this technology was ready. A lot of money was needed to make it. So he/she along with his/her team applied for a grant in Uttar Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (UPCST). UPCST liked this project. So UPCST has approved a grant of Rs 12.72 lakh for this project. This grant has been given for a period of two years. The team has to complete this project in two years.

In this technology, drones will be used which will fly before the planes and clear the fog. This technology will not only increase security at airports but will also help in the timely operation of aircraft. This technology can be useful in air as well as road and rail transport. Assistant Professor of Electronics Engineering Vinay Kumar Singh, Senior Manager of Airports Authority of India Dharmendra Prakash and Saifullah have jointly developed it with Dr. Dinesh Kumar Nishad as co-investigators.

NBT-Lens: So will the cost reduce?

Many times airlines have to cancel their flights due to fog. Not only this, many times the flight also gets delayed. Same is the case with trains. Trains also have to be cancelled due to fog. They also get delayed by many hours. After the fog removing drones are made, airlines will not have to cancel their flights and railways will not have to cancel their trains. Especially there will be a huge reduction in the cost of airlines. This will increase the revenue. Not only this, accidents of trains and buses will also decrease.
