New Delhi : Ajit Doval has once again been appointed as the National Security Advisor. This is the third time since the Modi government came to power in 2014 that Ajit Doval has been given this important responsibility. PM Modi has once again expressed confidence in his/her trump card.   • Return of nurses from Iraq: In 2014, he/she played an important role in getting the nurses trapped in a hospital in Iraq released. Doval himself went to Iraq in June 2014 for this secret mission. he/she held talks with senior officials there. Only after this, the release of the nurses could be ensured.
  • Surgical Strike: In 2016, terrorists attacked security forces in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir. After this, the whole country was angry. There was pressure on the government to take action. In such a situation, the surgical strike of September 2016 and the Balakot air strike across the border in Pakistan in February 2019 also took place under Doval’s supervision.
  • Doklam dispute with China: The standoff in Doklam started on 16 June 2017. At that time, about 300 Chinese soldiers were carrying out construction with bulldozers near the India-China border. Indian soldiers stopped them from building a road in Doklam. This is where the dispute between the two sides started. India argued that the road that China wanted to build could change the security equation. Ultimately, Doval played an important role in ending the Doklam dispute.
  • Military operation in Myanmar: Doval, along with Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag, had also led the successful military operation against National Socialist Council of Nagaland militants in Myanmar.
  • Negotiator in the Kandahar plane hijacking case: Doval played a key role as one of the three negotiators in the release of passengers from the hijacked IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999. he/she successfully foiled at least 15 hijackings of Indian Airlines aircraft between 1971 and 1999.
  • Intelligence in Operation Blue Star: Doval also played a key role in gathering intelligence for ‘Operation Blue Star’ to suppress Khalistani insurgency in 1984.
  • The road to elections in Jammu and Kashmir: Doval went to Kashmir in 1990 and persuaded hardcore militants and soldiers to turn anti-terrorist, paving the way for Jammu and Kashmir elections in 1996.
  • Anti-insurgency operations in Mizoram and Punjab: Ajit Doval was actively involved in anti-insurgency operations in Mizoram and Punjab.
  • Undercover agent in Pakistan: Doval spent seven years as an undercover operative in Pakistan, gathering intelligence about terrorist groups operating there. After working as an intelligence agent for a year, he/she worked for six years at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
