New Delhi. For the last few months, there is a continuous discussion about the captain of the Indian cricket team, Rohit Sharma. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah took command of the team in the first and last matches of the Test series played in Australia. After keeping himself out of the playing eleven in the Sydney Test, talks of his/her retirement started coming to the fore, which Rohit Sharma himself came out with and called it a rumour. Now the news is that he/she has expressed his/her desire to remain captain for a few more days. Jasprit Bumrah’s name was put forward as the next captain in the BCCI review meeting.

Rohit Sharma has expressed his/her desire to remain the captain of India for a few more months and has asked the board to search for a new captain in the meantime. Whichever name is put forward will get their full support. According to a report in Dainik Jagran, on Sunday, January 12, Rohit held a review meeting of the Australia tour with BCCI officials in Mumbai, which also included India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

According to the report, during the meeting, 37-year-old Rohit, who had led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024. he/she expressed his/her desire to remain captain for a few more months. During the meeting, the name of star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was proposed as Rohit’s successor. Questions are being raised on the fitness of Bumrah, who was injured in the Sydney Test. These days he/she is suffering from a back injury, due to which there is doubt about his/her continuing as the captain of India for a long time.
