Don’t break caste, socio-economic development… Gadkari told BJP’s victory plan in Maharashtra

New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari Has claimed victory of BJP led alliance in Maharashtra elections. he/she said that the state government has done good work and the schemes of the central government have also had a good impact on the people. Along with this, he/she has expressed concern over increasing nepotism and defection in politics. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit, the Union Minister expressed his/her views on everything from road construction to environment and politics of Maharashtra. he/she told how important roads are for development and how development can be done while saving the environment. During this, he/she also made a strong comment on the caste census.

Gadkari spoke openly on caste census

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that my personal opinion is that a person cannot become great on the basis of his/her caste, religion, language or gender, but can become great only on the basis of his/her qualities. he/she said that untouchability and casteism should be eliminated in the society and socio-economic equality should be established. Backwardness has become a political selfishness, everyone wants to prove that he/she is backward.

Gadkari said that whoever talks about this is not speaking for the development of his/her community. If everyone understands what makes a country develop then we will be prosperous. We don’t look at the caste of the actor, we look at his/her acting, when we go to the doctor to get medicine, we don’t look at his/her caste, we look at the effectiveness of that medicine. When we go to a restaurant, we look at the taste of the food. We should not work towards breaking the society but should work towards uniting it.

Expressed concern over nepotism and defection

Nitin Gadkari expressed concern over increasing nepotism and defection in politics. he/she said that nowadays politics has become a business. In our times we used to do politics for the society, nation and the poor. At the same time, he/she has expressed confidence of the victory of the BJP led alliance in the Maharashtra elections. he/she said that a BJP-led grand alliance government will be formed. The state government has done good work. Central government schemes have also had a good impact on the people.

Roads are the foundation of development- Gadkari

Nitin Gadkari said that better roads are very important for the development of the country. Good infrastructure attracts capital investment which leads to growth of industry, trade and employment. Giving the example of Delhi-Dehradun Highway, he/she said that due to its reconstruction, the number of pilgrims increased by two and a half times. Also, a whole business of taxis, buses, restaurants and hotels developed which also increased employment. he/she further said that his/her ministry has taken two important steps for the development of the country. First, to build 36 green express highways which will reduce travel time. Second, to promote alternative fuels like ethanol, methanol, bio-diesel in place of petrol and diesel.

Protecting the environment is also important

Some people have accused the highway project of harming the environment, on which the Union Minister said that this is absolutely wrong. he/she said that when it took nine hours to travel from Delhi to Dehradun and fossil fuel was burnt, how much pollution would have occurred? And now when electric and bio-fuel vehicles run, how much pollution will be reduced? he/she also said that increasing the number of tourists is necessary for the development of the country. Gadkari also said that his/her ministry is using the waste generated from Delhi’s Ghazipur landfill in the Delhi-Mumbai Highway and other projects.

Consideration of removing old vehicles

Gadkari said the government is considering a policy to phase out 15-year-old petrol and 10-year-old diesel vehicles. he/she said that technology has changed and there is benefit in it. We are gradually moving towards gas economy and alternative fuels. Ethanol based vehicles are coming in the market.
