Don’t be fooled by the rumours of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ and use your brain, otherwise you will also become an April Fool in July

Nag Ashwin’s dystopian science-fiction ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ had created a stir even before its release and the film has reached close to 700 crores in just 7 days. Yes, so be it, because on hearing this, the audience is making mistakes after mistakes and the film is not stopping at the box office. In fact, it was announced that the film has done tremendous advance booking even before its release and on the opening day, the situation was such that the film earned close to Rs 175 crore. Seeing the earnings figures, like others, our enthusiasm also started increasing. It seemed that if we do not watch the film on the opening weekend, then life is useless. After reading the movie review, the remaining task was also completed by the public review and on Twitter, there was a panic in the theaters and the public dancing in front of the screen, I don’t know from where these people come, then we too could not escape from that mess. When we reached there, we were with a lot of pomp and show and we also had 2-4 kg of popcorn with us in case we felt like getting up in the middle of the movie! The movie starts and after watching the beginning, we felt that after a long time we are going to have fun on the big screen. The visuals related to Mahabharat and its war are looking so amazing in the first glimpse and just like tea boils when the gas is turned up, the mind also starts flying but everything is destroyed immediately.

Because after a great start, when the film starts, you will keep thinking that now everything will be fine and you will start understanding the story, but no. Because after seeing what happens till the interval, it seems that the director must have forgotten to put everything together properly, the way he/she had scattered it in the studio. Anyway, after facing what happened that day, I had decided not to tell anyone about it. Firstly, in high excitement, I remembered that I had to buy tickets for Saturday but I forgot that it was 29th June and who will not understand the pain of missing the ‘T20 World Cup’ and on top of that, the entire film was passing by in a rush for an hour.

Trying to add a pointless scene

Believe me, when my brain got tired trying to put together the nonsensical scenes of ‘Kalki’, I couldn’t decide which wall I should go and bang my head against. In a short while, I realized that my money was wasted. Well, now when I saw a news in which Prabhas is being called the biggest box office star, my heart sank. Now the time has come to express my feelings.

Trying to give you a lollipop for an hour

It is not that all this was happening only with me, but almost all the people sitting around me also had the same reaction. People were gradually getting up from the screen and getting busy watching the match on their phones. Prabhas, who is being given the title of the biggest superstar of the box office, after watching the film you will understand that this time too the buffalo has gone in the water. There is no doubt that Nag Ashwin has made a different effort to show the world after about 800 years from today. Such an effort which has not been seen on the screen of Indian cinema till now, the brilliant visuals and amazing VFX remind you of Hollywood films for a moment. But after watching the first half of the film, it seems that the story has been made but when it came to connecting, everything became disorganized. Yes, for the first one hour you will just wait that the story of the film will start now, it will start then and as soon as it comes on track, you reach the interval mode.

In a world where there’s sand and dust everywhere

This film has a future of 874 years later, which is shown starting from 6 thousand years ago. It starts with the scene of Krishna and Ashwatthama where Lord Krishna curses Ashwatthama to never die. With this you come to a world where there is sand and dust everywhere, not a single drop of water anywhere, it does not rain here, vehicles running in the air which are not like airplanes because only 6-8 people can sit in it.

Bujji did better acting than Bhairava

Prabhas is being praised so much for his/her film, but after watching the film, the only character that you can think of as funnier than Bhairava is his/her landlord. Bhairava who is always less concerned about his/her house and more about Bujji, you will see the landlord asking for rent from him/her every time. Prabhas’s character is completely shaky in the useless drama and comedy throughout. At times, you will also feel that Bujji has better dialogues and acting than him/her. Thanks to 81-year-old actor Amitabh Bachchan’s character of Ashwathama who has single-handedly saved the respect of not only the film but also Prabhas’ character.

The story after 800 years and Disha has a bridal bindi on her forehead

While connecting the story of the film to the Mahabharata era and the time after 800 years, the director forgot many things. After 800 years, the world of Supreme seems so advanced in terms of science and technology and while showing Disha Patani in the sea, the director forgot which era this film is from. Well, Disha was brought for this only and after seeing the sea, you will understand for which scene in the film she has been brought. And yes, the bride’s bindi on Disha’s forehead, did you miss it? Because after 800 years, it is possible that girls in the olden times will do makeup like brides and wear western dresses. After seeing all this, you will stand in the middle and start wondering whether to go 800 years ahead or back. On one side, Bujji and high-tech fighter bikes are visible, while on the other side, in the beginning it will seem that a flying saucer is flying in the sky carrying people. Pay attention in the middle, a lady making paan is also seen…so the director has made a complete mess of your mind. Neither will they let you go forward nor backward, more than half of the preparations for Kalki 2 are already done. Believe me, even though the film has earned 600 crores in 6 days and 700 crores in 7 days, viewers like us have already given up and are sitting in their homes, thinking about the next film.

From now on, never rush to watch a movie just by hearing its earnings figures; step into the theatres only after thorough investigation.
