US study abroad news: The dream of studying abroad has increased rapidly for Indian students for the last few years. According to the Government of India data, about 13.35 lakh Indian students are studying in foreign universities, in 2023 the figure was 13.18 lakhs and 9.07 lakhs in 2022. But with this growing graph, now the path of some favorite countries like US, Canada, Australia has become difficult due to strict immigration policies.
At present, there is a big confusion for Indian students in US. Uncertainty for President Donald Trump’s arrival in the US has increased. However, along with this, some countries are making the way easier for international students. Countries like Japan, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands are bringing the option to read on affordable fees for students.

Immigration policy strict, confusion on visa status

After the arrival of Donald Trump in the US, students studying in the US are also most upset by bringing their career. In 2024, the highest number of students in the US were 29.4% of India. For the first time, India left behind China. But now with the arrival of Trump, his/her problems are increasing in view of strict immigration policy, strict visa policy, who want to work in studies as well as and then in America.

In the US, there is a dispute over the non-migrant visa H-1B used to provide jobs to foreign employees by several sector companies including technology, engineering, which allows to work there. Supporters of Donald Trump say that this visa is getting reduced by the US jobs.

Will opt be closed to foreign students?

Optional Practical Training (OPT) program is popular among international students in the US to get H-1B visa, but there is a demand to close it. Also, with non-migrant F-1 visa, students are no longer allowed to go out of the US for more than five months for the international internship, any semester in another country, for holidays. Can not do more than 20 hours of work every week.

In which countries it is easier to study?

On the other hand, doors are more open for international students in many countries, such as Germany, France, Finland. France has also launched a scheme for Indian students – ‘Classes Internationals’, under which one can go to France and read the language for one year, will get training in French culture and a chance to do any three -year degree course in any government institute will get. Now the number of students showing interest for budget friendly Germany has also increased, especially in Stem Field. The Netherlands also have the top universities in the world with an annual cost of 12-14 lakhs. There are very good government universities in Ireland, Finland, where there are many job opportunities for international students. Most students do not know many options of these countries but now they are looking for.

Who should go to study in America?

Career Counselor and Foreign Education Expert Jitin Chawla says, students and their parents are still craze for the US, students are waiting for the situation to be clear but the situation has changed due to strict immigration policy. After the arrival of Donald Trump, many students are also investigating options from other countries. However, there is no problem in the US for those students who are serious and they are getting seats in the top university.

Jitin says that problems are for him/her who choose a college and his/her goal is to get a job. Right now Indian students living in the US are also worried about their visa status. If you want to go to the US, then only Sirius students should go. Take only on campus jobs, only 20 hours a week job for which it is enough, go there.
