You must have visited many Shaktipeeth temples till now, know about some in detail, and have heard about many superficially. But today we are going to tell you about such a Shaktipeeth temple, where the goddess who protects the womb and the family is established. We are talking about Maa Kuleshwari temple located on the Kauleswari hill of Hunterganj block of Chatra, which is counted among the Shaktipeeths. It is believed that this temple was built by Jains about 150 years ago.

Although a crowd of countless devotees is seen here, but most of the devotees come here to pray for the birth of a child. After the wish is fulfilled, the devotee comes here with his/her child and worships the Mother Goddess. There is the maximum crowd of devotees here during Navratri. A squinting eye is correct here

​This place is also famous by the name of Kolhua Pahad, Kauleshwari Parvat and Maa Kuleshwari Pahad. The surprising thing is, if your child’s eye is squinting, then it can be cured by coming here and praying. If the child’s eye is cured, then the devotees offer an eye made of gold or silver similar to the eyes of the mother.

Three religions meet here

​On the peak of Kauleshwari mountain, the confluence of 3 religions can be seen, first Sanatan, second Buddhist and third it is the confluence of Jainism. This place is considered very sacred even since the Mahabharata period. People of Hindu religion also come here to get married and also come here to perform the Mundan Sanskar of children. On the other hand, for Buddhists, this mountain is considered a holy place for attaining salvation along with the Tapabhoomi of Lord Buddha. If we talk about Jains, then Sheetalnath ji, the 10th Tirthankar of Jains, was born on this mountain peak. It is believed that he/she did his/her meditation here.

There is also a temple of Lord Shiva on the mountain

There is a Shivling from the time of Mahabharata period on Maa Kuleshwari mountain. It is believed that Pandavas worshipped Lord Shiva during their exile. During that time, Pandavas used to offer water Abhishek to Lord Shiva after bathing in the lake. Hearing this, you must be wondering where is this lake, let us tell you that this lake flows naturally on the mountain itself. Now a beautiful temple has been built at the place of Shivling. Devotees sing bhajans and kirtans here day and night.

Two routes have been made to reach the mountain –
You can reach there by turning left from the NH going from Bansingh of Jori block of Chatra to Gaya and crossing the Nedho river via Dantar village.

The second route is to take a left from the district’s Hunterganj block headquarters and pass through Kedli village, cross the Falgu river and go straight to Kolhua hill. It is 45 km from Gaya International Airport and only 25 km from Dobhi.
