Does work life balance in legal profession happen? Former CJI Bobade’s daughter raised questions about lawyers, judges


New Delhi : There is a lot of discussion about a picture of former Chief Justice SA Bobde on social media. This picture is done on the hospital bed. In the picture, the former CJI is seen lying on the bed in the hospital. In the picture, he/she is wearing a suit. This picture has been posted by the daughter of former Chief Justice. Along with posting the picture, former CJI daughter Savitri Bobade has also raised important questions. Savitri has asked questions on the work life balance of people and judges associated with the legal profession.

According to the post, he/she is preparing for mediation from the hospital, where he/she has spent the last four weeks for surgery. Savitri wrote, ‘About 70 -year -old father is ready for a week’s mediation from the hospital bed, where she has spent the last four weeks. After his/her fourth surgery (third unplanned), all this happened in the last 8 months. The tubes are coming out of their body and they remain in pain most of the day. Does anyone want to make a work-life balance?

Law of lawyers, judges’ work-life balance a lot

There has been a lot of debate between lawyers and judges on the balance between work and life. Former CJI DY Chandrachud said in January 2023 that people associated with legal profession should stop glorifying burnouts. he/she had expressed grief over the fact that people associated with the legal profession are proud of the extra long hours associated with their jobs.

This causes mental health problems. he/she advocated the balance between the lawyers’ legal offices and chambers and the balance between work and life. The CJI recalled the experience of his/her late ex -wife, who was a lawyer herself.

Practice for 21 years in Nagpur bench

CJI Bobde was born in 1956. he/she enrolled as a lawyer in 1978. he/she practiced in the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court for more than 21 years. In 1998, he/she was named Senior Advocate. he/she was made a judge of the Bombay High Court in March 2000. In October 2012, Madhya Pradesh became the Chief Justice of the High Court. he/she was promoted in the Supreme Court on 12 April 2013. The oath was administered as CJI on November 18, 2019. he/she retired as CJI on 23 April 2021.
