Dirty politics… Politics intensifies over Manmohan Singh’s funeral controversy, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri angry at Congress

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri accused Congress of playing dirty politics in the funeral matter of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. In fact, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders have targeted the Central Government for performing the last rites of Manmohan Singh at Nigambodh Ghat instead of Rajghat. Also accused of hurting the honor of the two-time Prime Minister. Responding to these allegations, Puri said, ‘There is no controversy, but it is being created. Congress is doing dirty politics. On BJP’s claims of ignoring protocol, Puri said, ‘Congress’s letter requesting special arrangements for the last rites arrived late. Puri said, ‘Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter, and the Home Ministry issued a letter agreeing to his/her request. We received this letter the next day after Singh’s death, three minutes after midnight.

Puri said, the Sikh community prayed for the former prime minister. BJP has always praised his/her work and takes inspiration from him/her. his/her memorial will also be built in the coming days. Puri said, ‘BJP does not want to get involved in unnecessary controversies. BJP respects former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

‘Due to heavy rain…’

Puri attributed the decision to cremate Manmohan Singh at Nigambodh Ghat to the heavy rains in Delhi that day. he/she said, ‘The area around Rajghat is flat and gets waterlogged. The weather department had predicted heavy rain. Ask the Congress whether it was possible to erect structures under such circumstances in such a short time. he/she said that Congress has ‘insulted’ its own leaders in the past also. he/she said, ‘This is the same Congress which did not allow the mortal remains of PV Narasimha Rao to come to the party headquarters, and his/her last rites were performed in Hyderabad.’
