Director backs out from ‘Tumbaad 2’, a new chapter in the story of greed and lust but the command is in new hands


Ever since ‘Tumbbad’ has been re-released, there has been a lot of talk about it. The film is performing well at the box office despite being re-released. The theatres are packed and people are talking about it for days after watching the film. Amidst all this, people are also excited that its part 2 is also going to come as it was announced in theatres as soon as part 1 ended. However, there are some difficulties regarding its sequel. Recently, the director of the film, Rahi Anil Barve, has said that he/she will not work on the sequel of the film. Let us tell you the whole thing. Rahi Anil Barve has confirmed that he/she will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of the 2018 horror film ‘Tumbbad’. This announcement comes soon after actor and filmmaker Soham Shah revealed that a sequel to ‘Tumbbad’ is being made. Barve’s statement comes after the re-release of ‘Tumbbad’ in theatres on September 13, 2023.

Director will not work on ‘Tumbaad 2’

In a post shared on X, Barve explained his/her decision to back out from the sequel, revealing that he/she is working on a much bigger project. The journey of films that started with ‘Tumbbad’ will be followed by ‘Paharpangira’ and ‘Pakshitirtha’. he/she said, ‘For decades, I worked on this film. Many filmmakers kept changing in between. The first film was Tumbbad – the greed of patriarchy. My dark version of a father, son and a ghost.’

Rahi Anil Barve’s next movies

According to Barve, his/her next film ‘Pahadpangira’ will explore the beginning of feminism and will be about the subject related to Sati Pratha. And the third film will be ‘Pakshitirtha’. However, Barve has not given much information about the story or characters of these films.

Friendship continues between Barve and Soham

Despite opting out of the sequel of ‘Tumbbad’, Barve wished the team all the best. he/she wrote, “I wish Soham and Adesh all the best for Tumbbad 2. I have no doubt that it will be a successful film.” Soham Shah, who played the lead role in ‘Tumbbad’, congratulated Barve for his/her upcoming films and wrote, “Congratulations to my brother for Paharpangira. It will be fun.” Barve replied, “I am always there for you. Thank you for everything.”

Barve revealed in his/her post that he/she is planning to start working on ‘Pahadpangira’ in March 2025 after completing his/her work on ‘Gulkand Tales’ and ‘Raktbrahmand’. Both these films are already in the news.
