Direct train can run till Kashmir soon, trial was successful, now tourists will get relief to travel

Officials say that after the completion of the 272 km long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line earlier this month, the Kashmir Valley has been connected to the rest of the country through rail. The train which was trialled between Katra and Budgam (Srinagar) had 22 bogies with 18 AC coaches, two luggage carriers and 2 engines. The train had completed the trial run between Katra in Jammu and Budgam in central Kashmir, passing through Srinagar.

According to media reports, an official said, efforts are being made to formally start the train by January 26. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the Delhi-Srinagar train by the end of this month, which will be a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir and can boost not only tourism but also business activities in the region.
