Difficulties for Congress will increase in Karnataka! ED preparing to register MUDA case against Siddaramaiah

New Delhi : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) may soon take cognizance of the Lokayukta’s FIR and register a money laundering case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and some others in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). Official sources gave this information on Monday. The Mysuru-based Lokayukta police establishment has named Siddaramaiah, his/her wife BM Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy and Devaraju in the FIR registered on September 27. Swami purchased the land from Devaraju and gifted it to Parvati.

Court had ordered Lokayukta investigation

Last week, a special court in Bengaluru had ordered the Lokayukta police to investigate Siddaramaiah in this case, after which an FIR was registered. Siddaramaiah was accused by MUDA of his/her wife B.M. There are allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to Parvati. The special court judge’s FIR came a day after the high court had upheld Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s decision granting permission to MUDA to probe allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 14 plots to his/her wife against the senior Congress leader. Order regarding registration came.

Money laundering sections will be imposed

The ED may impose sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Siddaramaiah in its Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR). Sources said the federal agency Lokayukta is studying the police FIR. As per procedure, the ED has the power to summon the accused for questioning and even attach their assets during the investigation. Siddaramaiah, 76, had last week said he/she was being targeted in the MUDA case as the opposition was “scared” of him/her. he/she also said that this is the first such “political case” against him/her.

Siddaramaiah refused to resign

he/she also reiterated that he/she would not resign even after the court ordered an inquiry against him/her in the case as he/she had done no wrong. he/she said he/she would fight the case legally. The MUDA had ‘acquired’ the property of the Chief Minister’s wife and allotted plots in the posh area of Mysuru as alleged compensation.

What are the allegations against CM?

It is alleged that the plots allotted to Siddaramaiah’s wife B M Parvathi as compensation in a posh area of Mysuru were priced much higher than the land acquired by the MUDA. The MUDA had allotted plots to Parvati in the ratio of 50:50 in exchange for her 3.16-acre land where she had developed residential layouts.

Under this controversial scheme, MUDA had allotted 50 per cent of developed land to people whose undeveloped land was taken over to develop residential layouts. It is alleged that Parvati had no legal right on 3.16 acres of land situated in survey number 464 of Kasare village of Kasaba Hobli in Mysuru taluk.
