DGCA changed the rules to promote the sea plane scheme, more people will get employment

New Delhi: Under the Udan scheme, DGCA has amended the rules to promote seaplanes across the country. The rules have been made easier. Also, pilots flying seaplanes can get CPL from any institute that meets the rules from anywhere in the world. These amendments made by DGCA in the new seaplane scheme can prove to be a big leap towards sustainable and safe seaplane operations. These important amendments streamline infrastructure processes, pilot training requirements and regulatory compliances. This opens the way for seaplane services to reach remote, inaccessible areas.

What are the revised rules

The regulatory framework for flying seaplanes, initially formulated in 2008, has been under review for a long time. Following a DGCA Working Group that recommended rationalising and amending the said regulatory framework, revised rules (CAR Section 3 Series C Part IX and CAR Section 7 Series B Part XVI) have been made. The revised rules also include easier training requirements and simplified approval processes for seaplane operations. Pilots with a CPL can now fly seaplanes as a seaplane rated pilot by training at any ICAO-recognised training organisation globally.

people will get employment

Additionally, new training opportunities have been set up for support roles to enhance employment prospects at seaplane centres across the country.
With the revised provisions, seaplane operators can access streamlined processes and optimised infrastructure requirements to expand seaplane services across the country and reach the most remote parts of the country thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
