Despite getting the first rank in JEE Advanced, he/she did not take admission in IIT, gave the exam only for experience and became the topper


IIT JEE Advanced Success Story: IIT-JEE is considered one of the toughest exams in the world. It is not everyone’s cup of tea to get the top rank in it. Very few lucky students are able to get the first rank in IIT-JEE and get admission in the IIT of their choice, however, there is a student who took this exam just for the experience and got the top rank.

Chirag Falor from Pune had secured AIR 1 rank by scoring 352 out of 396 marks in the JEE Advanced exam for IIT, however, he/she did not get admission in any of the top institutes of Indian Institute of Technology.

Took admission in MIT before IIT

Chirag did not take admission in IIT despite securing the first rank with 352 out of 396 marks in the IIT-JEE Advanced exam held in the year 2020. In fact, Chirag had already got admission in America’s famous university, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). he/she decided to study at MIT in the US, where he/she had already been accepted. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he/she took MIT classes online from India.

Chirag’s talent is not limited to IIT-JEE only. he/she has also won a gold medal in the 13th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad (IOAA). In the year 2019, he/she also secured first place in the American Mathematics Competition.

Chirag had said in an interview to PTI, ‘JEE exam was more challenging than MIT exam, so I decided to appear for it for experience. It has given me a different confidence. I used to go to online MIT classes at night and then prepare for IIT during the day.’

Born and raised in Pune, Chirag came to Delhi to focus fully on his/her studies. he/she studied at Pragati Public School in Delhi. he/she believed that staying with his/her family might distract him/her. Even before securing the first rank in IIT-JEE, Chirag got admission in MIT in March 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 lockdown, he/she could not go to the US and had to study online from India.

According to Chirag Falor’s LinkedIn profile and website, he/she is currently a senior at MIT and he/she has written – ‘I am a senior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I am thinking of doing something in Physics, AI and Mathematics.’
